Kala
Point is located about four miles south of Port Townsend on Port
Townsend Bay, and abuts Old Fort Townsend State Park. Located within
Jefferson County, Kala Point enjoys a moderate climate with only
16 inches of rain per year. Summers are warm and relatively dry.
Only two days a year have average temperatures below 32 degrees.
Snowfall in excess of one inch typically occurs only three days
a year.
Kala
Point is one of three planned residential communities in the Port
Townsend area. However, of the three, it's the only gated community.
An entrance gate is provided with a tele-entry system.
 Most
of the properties are single family residences, and there are condominium
units and time-share condos as well. A
considerable amount of property at Kala Point is held in common
by the homeowners. The Clubhouse is the center of Kala Point community
activities. There are many common areas of the Kala Point Owners
Association. In addition, Kala Point Village (timeshares), Kala
Point Condominium Association, Kala Bluffs Condominium Association
(townhouses) and Kala Heights Association (townhouses) own, govern
and maintain their own common areas.
The
Common Areas include:
- Beach
Areas: We have 1.25 miles of waterfront which include a dock,
buoys, boat rack, boat-loading ramp, fresh water outlets, gazebo,
playground with equipment, horseshoe pit, barbecue, toilets and
parking.
- Clubhouse:
Included are the meeting rooms, swimming pool, Jacuzzi, sauna,
wading pool, locker rooms, kitchen, decks, fireplace, restrooms,
game room and parking.
- Tennis
Courts: There are five tennis courts in the development. Three
tennis courts are off Sailview Drive, below the Clubhouse and
two are on Kala Heights Drive, just off Kala Point Drive.
- Open
Areas and Greenbelts: These areas include the bluff slopes,
easements connecting some streets and the walking trails.
- Storage
Lots:
The Kala Point Owners Association currently owns two storage lots
for recreational vehicles. Storage parking is restricted to these
spaces developed for that purpose by the Association. An annual
rental fee ranging from $72-$120 (depending on the length of the
space) can be arranged for at the Association Office.
- Mail
Stations:
Mail boxes, a bulletin board, and bike racks are in the entrance
gate area. Mail boxes and bulletin boards are also in five additional
locations within Kala Point. Additional bulletin boards are in
the Clubhouse and the timeshare office.
The
Kala Point Owners Association Office is located in the RV area at
the end of Kala Point Drive. Association business is conducted there
and most committees hold their regular meetings in the Office conference
room. The Office is on the second floor; the Association Maintenance
Shop is on the ground floor.
